Fundamentals - Ages 6-12

Building A Strong Foundation

In the Three Rivers Dance Academy’s Fundamentals program, new dancers 1st-8th grade learn the dance technique, terminology, and skills that provide a strong foundation for future learning. Classes are split by age. In this once a week 90 minute program dancers take 30 minutes of jazz, 30 minutes of ballet and a 30 minute elective in tap, acro or hip hop. Ballet & Jazz

Ballet and jazz are foundational dance training styles. Students develop strength, coordination, flexibility, and balance. All dance styles will refer to ballet or jazz technique and terminology. All fundamentals students will learn the foundations of ballet and jazz dance training.

Tap, Hip Hop, & Acro

The remaining class time is divided between tap, hip hop, or acro dance. In tap classes, students develop rhythm and precision as they learn to move their feet to the beat. Hip Hop dance training helps students develop rhythm and coordination. Acro dance training helps students develop strength and flexibility.
